    Minister Commends EMDRRI’s Environmental Mgt Efforts

    The Minster of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal has commended the management of Environmental Management Institute, (EMDRRI) Abuja for enhancing Environmental Management in Nigeria.

    Ibrahim Haruna, the Director, Information in the Environment Ministry disclosed this in a statement.

    Balarabe said that EMDRRI’s efforts complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration in the Environment Sector.

    To that effect therefore, the Minister declared the Ministry’s support, collaboration and partnership with EMDRRI for the development of Nigeria’s Environment.

    Balarabe said these while hosting the delegation led by the President/CEO of the Environmental Management & Disaster Risk Reduction Institute (EMDRRI) Bwari, FCT Abuja in his office.

    He further urged the institute to ensure that the curriculum based on practical rather than theoretical to enable products from the institute remain an employer of labour than job seekers.

    The Minister also said that the Ministry was committed to safeguarding the environment through public awareness campaigns on flood management to mitigate the impact of seasonal flooding, which has affected many communities in the country, implementation of the National Circular Economy Roadmap, a strategic framework designed to promote sustainable resource use, reduction waste, and foster economic growth through recycling and innovation.

    He assured the institute that the Ministry is dedicated to creating a resilient and sustainable environment for all Nigerians and are open to partnerships with organizations like EMDRRI to amplify efforts in environmental protection, climate adaptation and disaster risk management.

    Mr. Stephen Ogboli, the President /CEO of EMDRRI commended the Ministry for its proactive efforts in advancing environmental management and sustainability across Nigeria.

    Ogboli said that their visit was aimed at exploring potential areas of collaboration and cross fertilisation of ideas with the Ministry to address pressing environmental challenges and promote disaster risk reduction.

    The President of EMDRRI, also praised the Ministry’s leadership in tackling environmental issues and expressed optimism on forging a robust collaboration and partnership.

    He emphasized the institute’s expertise in disaster risk reduction and environmental management, underscoring the potentials for joint initiatives to address climate change, pollution and ecosystem preservation.

    The EMDRRI honored, conferred and decorated the Minister with the distinguished Fellow of the Institute.
