***Commissions Renovated Mobile Police Barracks In Plateau State

    By Miriam Humbe

Federal Government has said it is committed to enhancing the working conditions of security personnel across the country to bolster their morale in discharging their statutory obligation of securing lives and property.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume gave the assurance while commissioning the renovated Mobile Police Barracks at Kakuruk Community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

This was disclosed on Friday by Director, Information & Public Relations in the OSGF, Segun Imohiosen.

SGF, who was represented at the event by the Director, Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s Office, Simon Tyungu said that the facelift of the barracks was part of the ongoing efforts of the President Tinubu-led administration to improve on the overall well-being of security personnel for them to perform optimally.

Senator Akume said: “It is with great pleasure and a sense of fulfilment that I stand before you today in the Kakuruk community of Barikin Ladi Local Government, Plateau State as we gather to commission this newly renovated Mobile Police Base.

“This occasion signifies a milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Federal Government, under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to enhance the working conditions and overall welfare of our respected security personnel nationwide”.

He acknowledged the resilience and commitment of the security forces, particularly the military and the police, who have been instrumental in tackling security threats posed by the enemies of the nation and to safeguard the well-being of citizens.

The SGF said that the completion of the renovated barracks would serve as a beacon of hope for the good people of Kakuruk community and its environs for the intervention.

The comprehensive renovation of the barracks included the conversion of existing and dilapidated structures into well-finished facilities.

These included a Police Admin block, Commandant’s house, Police Multipurpose Hall, Police Officers’ offices, Armoury, Senior Officers’ quarters, Junior Police Quarters, Quarter Guard, Parade Ground, as well as the provision of essential facilities such as transformer, electrification, borehole, water reticulation, security watch towers, drainage, external works and landscaping.

He therefore urged the leaders and Senior Officers of this barracks to uphold a culture of maintenance and responsibility towards the newly renovated facilities.

The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and Member, Senate Committee on Power, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, said that the renovation of the Mobile Police Barracks by the Federal Government was a game-changer in recalibrating the security architecture of not only Kakuruk community but the entire Barkin Ladi Local Government and Plateau State at large.

Along said this would bring law enforcement agencies closer to the people and will go a long way in ensuring that any security threat is tackled with speed and efficiency.

He further said that the community and its environs had been experiencing intermittent security challenges with attendant loss of lives and property, but with the renovation of the barracks, the gesture will go a long way to restore people’s confidence to go about their lawful activities on their ancestral lands without fear.
