The Federal Government of Nigeria has bestowed the prestigious Outstanding Public Service Award on the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, at a grand ceremony held yesterday inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Olusegun Ogungbemide, Assistant Corps Marshal Corps Public Education Officer
Federal Road Safety Corps disclosed this in a statement signed on Monday.

The well attended event placed the FRSC at the centre of national recognition for institutional excellence, innovation, and lifesaving service.

Representing the Nigerian President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, delivered a glowing tribute to the Corps Marshal.

Akume applauded his transformative leadership style, sweeping reforms, and his relentless push to modernise Nigeria’s road safety architecture.

He praised FRSC under Shehu Mohammed’s command for emerging as a model of disciplined administration, digital evolution, and life-preserving national service.

The award ceremony attracted an extraordinary constellation of national leaders and policymakers, including the Executive Governors of Adamawa, Zamfara, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Enugu States; the FCT Minister (represented); the Minister of Finance; the Comptroller-General of Customs; the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service; the Comptroller-General of Immigration; and a wide array of distinguished CEOs and heads of federal parastatals; many of whom also received honours for exceptional public service.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed dedicated the award to every officer and marshal of the Corps nationwide, declaring it a renewed mandate to intensify efforts in protecting lives, enhancing road discipline, and aligning the Corps more strongly with the Federal Government’s strategic vision for safer mobility and national development.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to driving innovations that strengthen safety systems across the country.

This towering recognition shows FRSC’s rising national profile as a frontline institution in public service excellence.

It also cements Corps Marshal Mohammed’s reputation as a reform driven leader whose passion for service continues to shape Nigeria’s road safety landscape with measurable impact, integrity, and enduring national value.
