Former Minister of Environment, Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi tasked the newly deployed Permanent Secretary to the Ministry, Ibrahim Yusufu Idris to sustain tempo in achieving the mandates of the Ministry.

Head, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Ministry, Ibrahim Haruna on Saturday said the Minister said this during his farewell speech at the handover ceremony to the Permanent Secretary in his office in Abuja.
The Minister thanked the Management and staff of the Ministry for their support and cooperation to actualize the mandate given to him by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said: “I want to specially thank you for your support during these thirteen Months I served as a Minister, at times, I had to drag you to achieve result and you have not failed in your professionalism and support”.
Abdullahi said the Ministry had achieved lots especially, in major programmes such as Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), an environmental Remediation, Sustainable Livelihood, Provision of Potable Water and Public Health analysis in impacted communities of Ogoni Land, Rivers State.
Other achievements were Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid landscapes (ACReSAL) in nineteen Northern States and FCT, Abuja, Climate Change, Pollution Control, COP27 among others.
The new Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Yusufu Idris who formally resumed office promised to work with all the staff as a team to achieve the Ministry’s mandate.
Yusufu described his posting as a will of God as he did not lobby for it.
He added that as an Accountant he never imagined coming to the Environment sector.
Now that he was here, he assured the Ministry of good leadership while requesting support and cooperation of the Staff.
Yusuf said: ‘‘The Civil Service Rules are going to be guidelines in carrying out our duties.
“I am ready to work as one family and there will be no Boss, we are all together, when you break the rule, I become the Boss.
“As for me, I have resolved to add value and make a positive difference in the ministry.
As the Permanent Secretary; my doors are open to contributions and innovative ideas on how to move the ministry forward.”
The Permanent Secretary thanked the Minister and promised to sustain milestones achieved and initiate new ones where necessary.
Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, (DOOPS), Charles Ikea welcomed the newly deployed Permanent Secretary and appealed to the staff to extend their co-operation to him.
He added that the environment touched every sector of the Nigerian economy and that he will enjoy his stay here as the Ministry has witnessed different Professionals as Permanent Secretaries in the recent past.
The Permanent Secretary was accompanied to the Ministry by Union Leaders from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHSCF), who applauded him with the Union slogans.
