The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)
has once again demonstrated the effectiveness of its intelligence-driven patrol operations.

This is with the successful recovery of a stolen vehicle by personnel of RS5.13 Iruekpen Unit Command, Edo State.

Osondu Ohaeri, the FRSC Deputy Corps Commander, Corps Public Education Officer disclosed this in a statement signed on Sunday.

The recovery occurred on Sunday, 14 June 2026, following a distress report received by the patrol team concerning a gold coloured Toyota Camry.

The car was with registration number RBC 987 CM, and was reportedly stolen from a church premises in Benin City earlier in the day.

Upon receiving detailed information about the stolen vehicle, the patrol team immediately activated its intelligence and surveillance network, strategically monitoring vehicular movements along major routes within its operational corridor.

Through a combination of vigilance, professionalism and effective patrol coordination, the vehicle was subsequently sighted and intercepted.

The suspect found in possession of the vehicle claimed to be a delivery agent.

However, following preliminary investigations, he was apprehended and handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force and taken into custody for further interrogation, while the recovered vehicle was secured pending identification and handover to its rightful owner.

Commending the swift response of the patrol team, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, noted that the recovery further underscores the critical role of FRSC patrol operations not only in ensuring safer roads but also in supporting national security efforts through intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration.

The successful recovery highlights the growing impact of FRSC patrol operations in crime reduction across the country.

Beyond traffic management and road safety enforcement, FRSC patrol teams serve as vital eyes and ears on the highways, contributing significantly to the detection of stolen vehicles, apprehension of criminal suspects, rescue of crash victims, and provision of timely intelligence to relevant security agencies.

This proactive approach continues to strengthen public safety, deter criminal activities, and enhance confidence in the nation’s road transportation system.

To this end, Motorists and citizens are encouraged to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies through FRSC’s established communication channels for immediate intervention.
