    SOS Children’s Villages Empowers Youths On Entrepreneurship, Employability

    A Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), SOS Children’s Villages has empowered a number of youths on entrepreneurship and employability.

    Mr Felix Ebhota, the Programme Manager, SOS, said this at the closing of “The Next Economy (TNE)’’ an Initiative program in Abuja.

    The program was implemented by SOS Children’s Villages, and supported by ASPILOS foundation and Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    Ebhota said that the programme empowered youth on elevation hub and craft and it also helped in filling the gap after their education.

    He said: “TNE is a transformative initiative that empowers the youth in the country, enabling them to harness their talents, and boost their self-assurance.

    “It also helps them refine the essential skills required for a thriving career either in the workforce or as budding entrepreneurs.

    “Also recognising the diverse aspirations of young individuals entering the job market, TNE offers a range of entrepreneurship programs designed to equip the youth with the tools they need to secure employment or embark on self-employment journey”.

    Ebhota said that so many people had benefited and were still benefiting from the empowerment programme.

    He also said: “If you partake in this programme you will be able to stand and display all the skill”.

    Some of the beneficiaries of the training, said that the programme had impacted on positively them.

    One of the beneficiaries, Henry Odeji said that he took the employability track program, which had impacted positively on him.

    Henry said he had been unemployed for a long time but after finishing the training and the three months internship, he applied for a job, went for the interview in which he performed very well and got employed.

    He said: “TNE has helped me in so many ways, how to respond to a question, comport myself among others things.”

    Another beneficiary, Mr Michael Onoseme, said that in 2021 he took the entrepreneurship track program.

    He said that after the training he got a grant of three hundred dollars to boost his business and later got another nine hundred dollars.

    “My business is doing very well and has a team of eight people,” he said.
