The second phase of the training for the implementation of Microsoft Learning Management Systems (LMS) has commenced at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet),
with management staff of the agency undergoing a three-day training.

The training which is taking place at the Agency’s Abuja headquarters started on the 29th of October 2024 and is expected to end on the 31st.

The training programme is in line with the strategic policy direction of the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Professor Charles Anosike, aimed at fostering a culture of continuous development, improvement, and innovation at the agency.

It is also in line with the mandate by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for agencies under the aviation ministry to prioritize staff development.

Professor Anosike said he was confident that the LMS will revolutionize training programmes in the agency.

Anosike said: “It will set a new standard for online learning within the agency and by extension to members of the public who are interested in gaining knowledge about products and services offered by NiMet”.

Speaking during the training, the Special Assistant on ICT to the DG/CEO of NiMet, Mr. Cyprian Okpalaku, highlighted the importance of the training programme.

He said: “It is aimed at developing the computer skills of staff and encouraging the adoption, usage, and implementation of the LMS platform in their daily official affairs in the agency.

“This will also foster synergy amongst all units and departments of the Agency”
