The Nigerian Navy has reinforced its commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking through a successful joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), resulting in the disruption of illegal drug activities across parts of Warri, Delta State.
The Director Naval Information,
Nigerian Navy, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho disclosed this in a statement signed on Monday.
The operation was conducted by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA and operatives of the NDLEA as part of ongoing efforts to sanitize the Nigerian Navy’s area of operation and deny criminal elements the freedom to traffic and distribute illicit substances.
The joint team carried out coordinated raids across the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor, and Usiefrun axes of Warri.
The operation led to the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of various illicit substances, including Molly, Cannabis, and Skuruchi, dealing a significant blow to the local drug distribution network.
The successful operation underscores the strong collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA in addressing the nexus between illicit drug trafficking and other forms of criminality that threaten public safety and national security.
The Nigerian Navy remains committed to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying criminal elements the operating space to engage in activities that undermine peace, security, and lawful economic activities within its area of responsibility.
