The Federal Government has assured the Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN) of its support toward achieving sustainable food security in the country in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Segun Imohiosen, the Director, Information & Public Relations in the OSGF disclosed this in a statement.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, gave the assurance when a high-level delegation of the AFGSAN led by its National President, Alhaji Haruna Ahmad Pambegua, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

SGF noted that the Association needs support to enable it to do more in boosting food production, assuring that the present administration is willing to support the Association to contribute immensely in boosting food security in the country.

He further assured that he will table their request before the President for the needed support to the Association.

While commending the Association for its contributions so far in boosting food security, Sen. Akume disclosed that the Federal Government is doing a lot in revolutionizing agriculture through mechanised farming as new tractors and trucks were imported, dams and roads were constructed across the country to boost food production.

He therefore urged the Association to assist the government in publicising the ongoing revolution in the agricultural sector.

In his earlier remarks, the National President of the Amana Farmers and Grains Suppliers Association of Nigeria (AFGSAN), Alhaji Haruna Ahmad Pambegua, said that the Tinubu-led administration has implemented laudable policies and programmes that have transformed the lives of average Nigerians positively.

He assured the SGF of its total support to the administration by contributing its quota towards complementing the Federal Government’s efforts in achieving sustainable food security.

He solicited the support of the Federal Government for the allocation of tractors, fertilisers, and farm implements to its members at a subsidised rate to boost their capacity in the production, supply and delivery of all farm produce across the country.
