    Examplary Service: Industry Ministry Rewards Outstanding Officers

    As part of efforts to promote and sustain effective and efficient service delivery for the socio- economic development of the nation, the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has recognized and rewarded twelve (12) officers who distinguished themselves in the conduct of their respective duties in the Ministry and the Civil Service.

    At the recognition and reward ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Evelyn N. Ngige said that the Civil Service was primarily predicated on stewardship, trust, engagement and professionalism.

    A statement signed by Director Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Adebayo Thomas said Ngige identified the above virtues were driving principles for harnessing both human and material resources for institutional and national development.

    The Permanent Secretary, who was represented by the Director Policy Planning Research and Statistics Department, Baba Gana Alkali noted that “As Civil servants, we are therefore required to always observe the evergreen ethics of integrity, Industry and productivity in order to promote and sustain effective and efficient service delivery fir the socio-economic development of the nation”

    The Permanent Secretary said that “We are expected to be sincere and committed to the process of identifying, prioritizing and facilitating policies, programmes and projects that have positive impact on the citizenry. In this regards, we are to always balance productivity, proper utilization of resources and service delivery to ensure sustain national growth and development”.

    She said that within the available resources, the management has continued to address capacity gaps with the regular conduct of specialized training carried out at both the departmental and Ministry levels.

    The Permanent Secretary said the Ministry has also carried out a series of training in the area of Performance Management System (PMS) for all levels of Staff in preparation to the commencement of full Implementation of the PMS in the Ministry as approved by the Federal Executive Council for the Federal Civil Service.

    She said that the Ministry had developed its Standard Operational Procedures which clearly defines the role and schedule of every desk officer in line with the requirement for the implementation of PMS.

    Dr. Ngige urged the awardees to see the recognition as a call to continuously dedicate themselves to the excellent conduct of assigned schedules and official responsibilities.

    The Director of Trade Department, Mr. Suleiman Audu who responded on behalf of the awardees expressed appreciation to the management for recognizing hard work, describing it as call to service, dedication and commitment, saying that, “Hard work pays, let it serve as inspiration to others”.
