Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, joined the Governor of Kaduna State and distinguished stakeholders at the launch of the Kaduna State Climate Change Policy and Position Statement on Tuesday.

The landmark event, held at Yar’adua Indoor Sports Hall, signified a critical step in collective efforts to combat Climate Change and promote sustainable development.

The Minister praised Governor Uba Sani for his dedication to environmental sustainability and highlighted the adverse impacts of Climate Change on our ecosystems and economies.

He emphasized the need for a multi-stakeholder approach, involving government agencies, the private sector, academia, and civil society organizations, to drive sustainable solutions.

The Minister also outlined the Federal Ministry of Environment’s commitment to supporting Kaduna State through technical assistance, capacity building, and facilitating access to climate finance.

Lawal urged all stakeholders to embrace and support the new policy, setting a powerful example for other states in Nigeria and beyond.

‘Together, we can achieve our shared climate objectives and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.’
