As Muslims across the country join the global faithful in celebrating this year’s Eid el-Kabir, Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), has called on Nigerians to strengthen the bonds of unity and renew their commitment to national security.
In a goodwill message signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Minister extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He described Eid el-Kabir as a period that embodies sacrifice, faith, and obedience to divine will.
General Musa urged Nigerians to reflect on the values of the season and apply them toward the collective good of the nation, stressing that unity and shared responsibility remain essential to building a peaceful and secure country.
“The peace and progress of our nation require a shared commitment,” he stated. “In the spirit of this holy season, let us transcend our differences and join hands in keeping faith with the ideals of a strong, secure, and indivisible Nigeria.”
The Minister also paid glowing tribute to officers and men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, commending their courage, resilience, and dedication in ongoing operations aimed at defending the nation’s territorial integrity and combating insecurity across various theatres.
He acknowledged the sacrifices of troops serving in difficult and often dangerous conditions, noting that their efforts remain central to safeguarding national stability.
“While we celebrate in the comfort of our homes, we must remember and pray for our gallant troops who remain on the frontlines to ensure our safety,” he said, adding that the Ministry of Defence remains committed to improving their welfare, operational capacity, and equipment support.
General Musa further called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively support security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities, emphasizing that national security is a collective responsibility requiring cooperation between citizens and the state.
He also extended Eid greetings to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous celebration for all Nigerians.
