The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Mutkut, paid an operational visit to Headquarters 25 Brigade, Damboa, on 30 July 2026.

This was in furtherance of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to enhancing combat readiness and improving troops’ welfare.

During the visit, the senior officer received updates on ongoing operations, commissioned key infrastructure projects aimed at improving the Brigade’s operational capacity and personnel welfare.

He commended officers and soldiers for their resilience, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to counter-terrorism operations under the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI.

    Captain Mohammed Goni, the
    Acting Military Information Officer
Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI disclosed this in a statement signed on Saturday.

At the Brigade Operations Room, Major General Mutkut received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation, ongoing operations, key achievements, and operational challenges within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).

He subsequently toured the Brigade Headquarters Base Camp, where he commissioned newly completed infrastructure projects, including the Brigade Commander’s Residence, the Headquarters Office Complex Annex, and the Brigade Guard Room, all executed by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Igwe Omoke.

Addressing the troops, the CIC acknowledged the highly contested operational environment in which they operate and conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM, for their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment in countering terrorist threats.

He also highlighted the Nigerian Army’s welfare initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of personnel and their families, stressing that enhanced welfare should translate into greater operational effectiveness and mission success.

Major General Mutkut reminded personnel to uphold the ethics, customs, and traditions of the Nigerian Army. He reiterated the Service’s zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse, theft, fighting among personnel, and the misuse of social media.

He further urged soldiers to maintain strong family ties, noting that a stable home front remains critical to sustaining morale and enhancing operational effectiveness.

In his remarks, the Commander 25 Brigade, Brigadier General Igwe Omoke, expressed appreciation to the Commander Infantry Corps for the visit and continued support to the Brigade.

He noted that the commissioning of the new infrastructure and the CIC’s words of encouragement would further motivate officers and soldiers to remain resolute in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
