Benue is the seventh State recommended in the first phase for construction of 1,000 housing units.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Senator George Akume said this on Sunday in his home State, Benue during a homecoming event.
Senator Akume said that the building constructions would be done in fulfilment of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign promise.
The SGF said: “This has nothing to do with politics. It has everything to do with the economic realities. Some people’s homes were destroyed.
“It is in good faith and it is in the interest of those who were in a direct line of fire.”
Senator Akume urged the Benue people to pray for their governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia and to support him to succeed.
He said: “Pray for our governor, you worked hard for him to win the election. Pray for him. Allow him to settle down and deliver.”
Akume thanked God for keeping him alive to celebrate his 70th birthday, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
He said: “They say when you are 70, you are closer to where you are going. But am not in a hurry to leave this beautiful earth.
“I want to live longer so that I will be seeing you. And we’re going to have thanksgiving.
“I have to praise God for all He has done for me throughout this period.”
He equally thanked God making him the SGF and “for using my very good friend, Asiwaju as the special instrument for that appointment.”
Senator Akume described President Bola Tinubu as a team player.
Akume said: “Since I know him in 1993, Asiwaju remains a man to do business with. He respects his friends.”
