A delegation from the Army Headquarters Department of Operations (AHQ DAOPS) on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, visited the North East theatre to assess operational activities and effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI.

The visit took place at the Headquarters Theatre Command Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) , Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri
The Team was received by the Theatre Commander (TC), Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar.
The visit which is part of ongoing efforts of the Army Headquarters, to evaluate operational activities and enhance effectiveness across various theatres of operations.
The delegation was presented with a comprehensive operational briefing on activities within the theatre of OPHK.
The Team Leader, Colonel Olubukola Olusanya, commended the Theatre for the detailed and insightful briefing, describing it as both informative and reflective of the tremendous successes recorded in the theatre.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess operational activities and identify areas requiring urgent attention.
He added that such periodic assessment visits by AHQ DAOPS were aimed at ensuring continuous improvement through timely recommendations and interventions.
The team leader assured the Theatre Commander and his management team that the team would conduct a comprehensive and objective evaluation and provide feedback that would further enhance operational effectiveness across all theatres of operation.
In his remarks, Major General Abubakar underscored the critical role of the AHQ DAOPS team in identifying operational gaps and strengthening ongoing military efforts.
He urged the delegation to conduct a thorough and objective assessment, with actionable recommendations that would further improve operational efficiency in Operation HADIN KAI and other theatres nationwide emphasizing that OPHK places high premium on any assessment from outside the Theatre.
Major General Abubakar disclosed that troops of Operation HADIN KAI had recently neutralised over 300 terrorists across multiple fronts to include the Timbuktu Triangle, Sambisa Forest and Mallamfatori during the decisive phase of ongoing dry season operations.
He noted that the achievement had significantly boosted troops’ morale, attributing the success to robust logistics and administrative support as well as the implementation of the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
He added that the operation’s reward and sanction system had enhanced discipline and encouraged troops to adopt more proactive and innovative approaches in prosecuting the counter-terrorism campaign.
The visit was followed with interactive session, presentation of souvenir and a group photograph.
