    Corps Marshal Commends Operatives For Prompt Rescue Of Containerised Crash Victims

    The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed has commended the efforts of FRSC Rescue and Emergency Response team for a rare demonstration of bravery, professionalism, and Resilience after successfully rescuing six victims of road traffic crashes from a deadly containerised crash.

    Corps Public Education Officer, FRSC Headquarters, Abuja, Assistant Corps Marshal, Olusegun Ogungbemide, disclosed this in a statement.

    One of the crashes which occurred as a result of break failure happened at 10:50hours involving two containerized trucks on the Apapa-Wharf route near Flour Mill, 6 kilometers from Mile 2, Lagos State.

    Crash investigation report submitted by the rescue team reveals that 4 people all males, were involved in the crash.

    One was rescued with injuries, including bruises and cuts, while the remaining 3 survived the crash unhurt.

    Two vehicles were involved, a red Mack truck and green Mack truck all commercial.

    The second crash which involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number LSD293HJ, and a Mack truck occurred on 25 November, 2024 on Euro 65 -Signal Baracks route, Mile 2 Oke, Lagos State.

    The crash involved 2 people in a Toyota Corolla saloon car.

    The victims were rescued alive by the proactiveness of FRSc rescue team after the Mack truck (40 feet container truck) crashed and landed on the saloon car.

    The mileages achieved through these proactive approaches were recorded at the expense of Corps Marshal’s earlier directives to operatives to assert high level of professionalism and promptness to rescue of crash victims as the end of the year travels gather momentum.

    Expectedly, the Corps Marshal charged drivers to maintain minimum safety standards.

    He also admonished fleet operators to ensure that their drivers were subjected to adequate training so as to acquaint them with the basics of contemporary dynamics of safe road use.
