The Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public, particularly business owners, motorists, tricycle operators, commuters and residents of Lafia metropolis and its environs, of temporary traffic diversion and movement restrictions in designated parts of Lafia ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Rally scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in honour of the visit of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The Presidential campaign is expected to attract top government functionaries, political leaders, dignitaries from across the country, APC party faithful, supporters and other important personalities to the state capital.
In view of this significant event, the Command has put in place comprehensive security and traffic management measures to ensure adequate protection of the President and his entourage, campaign participants and members of the general public, as well as the maintenance of peace, law and order before, during and after the rally.
Consequently, temporary traffic diversions and movement restrictions will be implemented around designated routes, adjoining roads and strategic locations within the metropolis to facilitate the smooth movement of the Presidential convoy, effective crowd management and the overall security of the event.
Motorists, tricycle operators, commercial motorcycle riders and other road users are therefore advised to cooperate with security personnel deployed on traffic control duties, strictly obey traffic regulations and comply with all lawful directives at diversion points and other designated locations.
Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time, allow for possible delays, use alternative routes as directed and avoid unnecessary stops or obstruction of traffic along major roads and access routes to the rally venue.
Business owners, transport operators and residents within affected areas are equally advised to make adequate arrangements for their daily activities and movement in anticipation of the temporary restrictions.
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, appeals to residents to remain calm, exercise patience and demonstrate understanding throughout the period of the security arrangements.
He further urges members of the public to avoid unnecessary movement around restricted areas and to give security personnel the necessary cooperation to ensure a hitch-free event.
The Commissioner of Police also calls on political stakeholders, party supporters and all residents to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly. Persons without legitimate business at the rally venue and restricted security zones are strongly advised to stay away to prevent overcrowding, security breaches or possible confrontations.
Members of opposition parties and other political groups are particularly urged to avoid any action that could disrupt public peace, while all stakeholders are reminded to respect the rights of others and uphold the spirit of peaceful political participation.
The Command assures the public that adequate security personnel have been deployed to strategic locations across the metropolis to maintain law and order, manage traffic, protect lives and property, and ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the Presidential campaign rally.
The Command regrets any inconvenience the temporary security and traffic arrangements may cause and solicits the understanding, patience and cooperation of all residents and road users.
Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, unattended objects or any security concerns to the nearest Police Station
The Nasarawa State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to the protection of lives and property, the preservation of public order and the sustenance of a peaceful and secure environment for all.
