
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to tackling ecological challenges in Oyo State and other parts of the country, with a focus on mitigating the impacts of climate change, environmental degradation, flooding, erosion, desertification, and other related environmental hazards.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, gave the assurance when the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja and his delegates paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.
Having congratulated His Imperial Majesty on his ascension to the throne of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, he assured him of the readiness of the Federal Government to address some of the perennial ecological challenges facing some parts of Oyo State, adding that addressing ecological challenges across the country remains a national priority of the Tinubu-led administration.
Speaking earlier, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja stated that the essence of his visit was to appeal to the Federal Government through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to come to the aid of his people in finding a lasting solution to the perennial ecological problems facing some parts of the State. He further said that flooding in some of the affected areas of the state has caused untold hardship on the masses.
Part of the entourage of His Imperial Majesty were Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Alh. Chief Ademola Alli, Prince Ade Adekanbi, Hon. Nureni Adisa among other high dignitaries.
