Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) and the Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS), Niger State Command, have expressed determination to strengthen collaboration to enhance security efforts across the state.
Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement signed on Sunday.
This commitment was made on Friday, March 21, 2025, during a courtesy visit by the Comptroller, NIS, Niger State Command, Ibrahim Gado, to the Commander, TRADOC NA, Major General Kevin Aligbe, in Minna.
Comptroller Ibrahim Gado commended the Nigerian Army (NA) for its unwavering support and collaboration with other security agencies in ensuring national security.
He emphasised that the NIS had enjoyed a long-standing and fruitful working relationship with the Nigerian Army, particularly in Niger State.
The Comptroller also acknowledged the Commander’s continuous support and commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation.
He reassured TRADOC NA of the NIS’ readiness to sustain and deepen their partnership to enhance security efforts across the state.
Major General Aligbe reaffirmed TRADOC’s commitment to fostering strong synergies with NIS, emphasising that the Nigerian Army remained steadfast in its mission to support the service and other security agencies in creating a safer and more prosperous nation.
He assured the NIS of continued assistance, particularly in capacity building through specialised training, seminars, and workshops.
In a separate engagement, the Provost, Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation, Engr. ML Yerima, had during a courtesy visit, described TRADOC as a Centre of Excellence within the Nigerian Army.
Yerima outlined the institute’s mandate to develop skilled manpower through entrepreneurship, with a strong focus on digital literacy, stating that the institution had trained thousands of entrepreneurs in critical fields such as software development, building construction, and hardware engineering.
He called for stronger collaboration with TRADOC NA in the areas such as vocational and entrepreneurial training programs for retiring military personnel to equip them with skills needed for post-service life.
He also highlighted the possible areas of partnership to include digital and technological advancements that could benefit both the military and civilian sectors.
Major General Aligbe described the visit as significant, noting that research and development are pivotal to the success of any modern military force.
He emphasised that the Nigerian Army has embraced technology and innovation as essential tools for operational excellence, citing the establishment of the Department of Transformation and Innovation (DATI) to address contemporary security challenges.
General Aligbe further identified key areas for collaboration, including research and development initiatives, as well as vocational training for barracks youths to equip them with productive skills.
The Commander assured the Provost of TRADOC NA’s willingness to support programs that align with national development goals and military innovation.
In another visit within the week, the Niger State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, has lauded the Commander, TRADOC NA, Major General Aligbe, for his unwavering commitment to the training, support, and welfare of Corps members serving in his formation.
Abdulwahab emphasised that her visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the NYSC and the Nigerian Army in Niger State, particularly through TRADOC NA.
She also praised the Commander for integrating Corps members into the command’s training activities, thereby shaping them into future leaders and responsible citizens.
Major General Aligbe reaffirmed TRADOC’s role as the Nigerian Army’s center of excellence, responsible for coordinating training activities, developing military doctrine, and evaluating Army training schools to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
He said the Corps members were important in both the planning and execution phases of various training programs, which are designed to instill leadership skills and positive behavioral attributes in young Nigerians.
The commander pledged continued collaboration and support for the NYSC in the state, describing them as vital partners in national development.
In a another development, Mr Hussaini Isa, Head of Operations, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Niger and Kwara states, called for enhanced collaboration with the Nigerian Army in the areas of training and disaster management.
Isa made this appeal when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commander TRADOC on Thursday 20 March, 2025 in Minna.
He said that NEMA needs partnership and support of the Nigerian Army in the area of training and capacity building for personnel, logistical support during distribution of relief materials in complex emergencies, protection of critical NEMA assets in Niger and Kwara States respectively, and security provision in volatile communities during emergency response operations.
He also emphasised the importance of collaboration in assessing disaster-affected areas and expressed deep appreciation for the Nigerian Army’s continued support to NEMA in the two states.
Major General Aligbe commended NEMA for its timely response to national emergencies, particularly in Niger and Kwara states.
He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to supporting NEMA and fulfilling its mandate of aiding civil authorities.
He assured the agency of TRADOC’s continued collaboration in organizing capacity-building workshops and seminars to enhance disaster preparedness and response efforts.
Furthermore, General Aligbe challenged NEMA to adopt a more proactive approach to disaster prevention.
He stressed the need for sound disaster management policies and strategies that would enable the timely identification of potential hazards, thereby minimising the loss of lives and property.
The Commander TRADOC emphasised that preventive measures and early warning systems should be prioritized to enhance national disaster resilience.
The meeting stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing security and humanitarian challenges.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together to improve disaster response and ensure the safety and well-being of communities in Niger and Kwara States.
