The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has told Corps Members to settle down in their various host communities after the Orientation Exercise and learn the culture and traditions of their hosts.

The DG gave this advice in his address to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members at Bayelsa State Orientation Camp in Boro town, Kaiama Local Government Area of the State.

Caroline Embu, the NYSC’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations disclosed this in a statement signed on Thursday.

He urged them to contribute meaningfully to the development of their place of primary assignments and serve as good ambassadors of the Scheme.

He said: “Don’t waste your time. Put extra values on yourself, settle down quickly, be focused and reflect on what you want to become in life because there is pride in service”.

The NYSC Chief Executive advised the Corps Members to be security conscious and not undermine their personal security.

He added that his administration would continue to ensure maximum security and welfare for all Corps Members.

The DG also implored the Corps Members to access the benefits of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) whenever the need arises.

He commended them for adjusting to the regimented life in camp, adding that it was designed to prepare them for leadership responsibilities as they aspire for greater heights in life.

In her brief to the Director General, the NYSC Bayelsa State Coordinator, Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo said all the 1,311 Corps Members comprising 580 males and 731 females have since adjusted to camp life, and are ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead of them.

She lauded the entire camp officials for their teamwork which has made the on-going Orientation Exercise very seamless.
