The Chief of Army Staff, (COAS) Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya has said that the Quick Impact Projects the Nigerian Army had been executing and commissioning in recent times were meant to connect the human side of the Nigerian Army.

Information obtained from the Twitter handle of the Nigerian Army, @HQNigerianArmy on Friday said the COAS said this on Thursday while commissioning a maternity center at Araromi, Iragbiji in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

Represented by the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army Ibadan Maj Gen Mohammed Usman, the COAS said the idea of Quick Impact Projects was to give back to the communities where the Nigerian Army was operating from.

The COAS urged for more support to enable the Nigerian Army to win the battle against insecurity ravaging the country.

Lt Gen Yahaya said that projects like maternity/health centre would serve the collective needs of the community where they were built as well as enhance mother and child health care.

The project executor Maj Gen Ayobami Ibikunle thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his support in completing and equipping the maternity center.

He appreciated the meek kindness of the COAS in supporting him in achieving the project for his community.

Maj Gen Ibikunle urged his community to make good use of the project and ensure it was well maintained.

He informed the gathering that the Centre was well equipped with modern facilities that could compete favorably with such facilities elsewhere.

Dignitaries at the occasion included the representative of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal MO Onilede, the Corps Commander Ordinance Maj Gen AM Alabi, a representative of the former Governor of Osun State, and a host of senior military officers including His Royal Majesty Oba Abdur-Rasheed (Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV).

The high points of the ceremony included the exchange of souvenirs, a group photograph, and a guided tour of the newly commissioned maternity center.
