    NYSC DG, Nafiu Decorated As SERVICOM Champion

    The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu has been decorated as a Servicom Champion by the Servicom National Office, Abuja.

    Caroline Embu, NYSC’s Acting Director, Information and Public Relations disclosed this in a statement signed on Thursday.

    The decoration took place today during the reading and presentation of Servicom Compliance Evaluation Report of the NYSC Directorate Headquarters, and some selected Secretariats by the Head of Operations, Servicom National Office, Mrs Ngozi Akinbudewa, held at the National Directorate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

    Speaking on behalf of the Head of the Servicom National Office, Mr Gbenga Anthony Oshim, Akinbudewa said a team of Servicom Officers evaluated NYSC’s activities in 10 Orientation Camps, including the National Directorate Headquarters Abuja, where the Scheme had initiated NYSC PAD bank, dedicated lines for distressed Corps Members’ calls and the enrolment of Corps Members in the National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA) for free medicare.

    He commended the Scheme for youth empowerment, cultural integration, strategic partnership, good reception for Corps Members on arrival at the Orientation Camps, among others.

    Oshim specifically listed Edo, Kwara, Kano, Imo, Adamawa, Benue, Ogun Camps and others as Servicom Compliant States in terms of effective service delivery worthy of commendation.

    In his response, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu thanked the Servicom team for the objective assessment of NYSC Camp activities.

    He said the Scheme had been integrating Corps Members into its Camp activities which had made the Orientation Camp activities more inclusive and impactful.

    He further stated that, the NYSC Management would continue to advocate for the provision of befitting Orientation Camps with modern facilities by State Governments for the training of Corps Members.

    While promising a stronger synergy with the Servicom National Office, the Director General also appealed to well meaning Nigerians and Corporate bodies to assist the Scheme through their corporate social responsibility.

    “We promise to do better because NYSC is a highly professional organization”, General Nafiu said.
