The National Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme Sector (NUPCPS), Mr Sylva Nwaiwu, award the former Finance Minister, Mr Wale Edun, for the pension liabilities clearance.
Nwaiwu, presented the award during a courtesy visit to him, in Abuja on Thursday.
He said that the result-driven executive award reflect prayers and goodwill from pensioners nationwide for Edun’s contributions to retirees’ welfare.
Nwaiwu attributed the recognition to Edun’s role in facilitating the release of the N758 billion to settle pension liabilities under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
He said that the intervention brought relief to many retirees and demonstrated commitment to senior citizens’ welfare across the country.
The Chairman also said that the award was to be presented during the national thanksgiving conference in March, but he was absent.
Edun expressed gratitude to God and President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve Nigerians.
He said that supporting retirees and improving citizens’ welfare remained a privilege and responsibility of leadership.
