
The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has issued a Medium Flood Risk advisory valid from 14 – 20 July 2026.
Localised flooding is expected along key river channels over the next 7 days, affecting 13 states.

Adamawa: Demsa, Lamurde, Numan (High exposure: 147 communities, 49 schools, 40 health facilities at risk)
Borno: Gubio, Mobbar (680 communities, 8 schools, 6 health facilities at risk)
Bauchi: Bauchi, Ningi, Shira
Kaduna: Chikun, Giwa, Igabi, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kaura, Kauru, and surrounding areas
Edo: Akoko-Edo, Etsako East, Etsako West, Ikpoba-Okha, Orhionmwon, Ovia North-East, Ovia South-West
Imo: Aboh-Mbaise, Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema, Okigwe, Owerri North, Owerri West

RECOMMENDED SAFETY ACTIONS
Do NOT cross flooded roads, bridges, or fast-moving water on foot or by vehicle.
Move to higher ground immediately if you live in a floodplain, and secure your livestock and valuables.
Clear your drains and avoid building or living in pathways prone to flooding.
Prepare emergency kits containing clean water, first-aid items, and essential supplies.
Stay informed: Monitor daily NIHSA updates on river levels.
