Students of Logistics Staff Course (LSC) 20/23 of the Nigerian Army commenced the maiden Practical Logistics Experience Scheme (PLES) in five organisations within Lagos recently.
The Nigerian Army revealed this information on Wednesday via its Twitter handle,
The Nigerian Army said that the Course was in line with the Commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) drive for realistic training and human capacity development.
The Scheme was newly introduced by the Commandant NACOLM, Major General AA Adeyinka, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of Passed Logistics Staff Course.
The selected organisations which included both military and civil establishments were Nigerian Army Drug Manufacturing Company (NADMACO), Naval Dockyard Limited (NDL) and 631 Aircraft Maintenance Depot (ACMD).
Others were BuildWell Plants and Equipment Industry as well as Eko Support Services Limited.
The Scheme which was designed to expand the students’ practical experience would hold on Friday only, over 7 weeks from 5 May – 16 June 2023, between 9:00am – 5:00pm. Similarly, the students were arranged into 5 groups for the PLES and assigned Supervising Directing Staff (SDS).
The Coordinator of the Scheme while addressing the students implored them to participate actively and conduct themselves well throughout the period.
This was in a view to meeting the College’s objectives for the attachment which include providing students with real life experience of the practical and management of logistics functions.
The Scheme was also designed to enhance the students’ ability to proffer viable solutions to real life challenges in supply chain management and deep understanding of practical modern management concepts. Furthermore, it is expected that during the attachment, the students would get involved in the operations of the organisations and proffer solutions to the logistics challenges presented to them by the firms.
The high points of the PLES would be the students’ written report on the Scheme and the power point presentation on their proffered solutions on a chosen date in the College with the invitees from the establishments in attendance. The participants were therefore implored to maximise the privileges of the Scheme in their assigned locations, being the first since the inception of the College.
They were equally instructed to be good ambassadors of the College and the Nigerian Army in general.
