The Nasarawa State Police Command has uncovered a technique used by criminals to dispossess unsuspecting owners of their vehicles.
The Police said that the criminals usually disguised as passengers to stop vehicles plying Lafia-Abuja/Akwanga –Keffi routes and, thereafter, dispossess them of the same vehicle.
The Commissioner of Police Maiyaki Baba said this in a statement signed on his behalf by Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), for Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel on Monday.
The PPRO said: “In view of the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Baba, urges road users to desist from picking passengers from the roadside while the public is advised to board commercial vehicles at the approved motor parks.
“The Commissioner of Police further admonished members of the public to be security conscious and not succumb to the antics of the criminals as the Police Command has put measures in place to nip the crime in the bud.
“In case of any distress, members of the public can call the following numbers: 09115629178, 09067877096, 08112692680, and 08104441179.”
