    Kebbi Police Commissioner Warns Criminals To Repent Or Flee State

    The Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, Samuel Titus Musa on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, warned all criminally minded persons in the State to either repent or carry their bags and relocate or face the law.

    CP Samuel Titus Musa gave the warning at the Police Command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi during a press briefing.

    The Police boss reeled out some of the achievements of his Command in the past few weeks which includes busting vandalism, animal theft, arrest of suspects for various crimes and crime prevention

    He urged all law abiding citizens to always be watchful, vigilant and avail the Police and other security agencies with timely and accurate information that will assist in the detection and prevention of crime in Kebbi State and the apprehension of offenders.

    Here’s a full text of the press briefing:

    PRESS BRIEFING BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, KEBBI STATE COMMAND, CP SAMUEL TITUS MUSA, psc AT THE STATE HEADQUARTERS, BIRNIN KEBBI, ON TUESDAY 29TH AUGUST, 2023.

    Senior Police Officers here present,

    Gentlemen of the Press,

    Good Afternoon.

    It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to Kebbi state Police Command Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, with a view to keeping you abreast on the successes recorded by the State Command in its efforts to fulfill its mandate of maintaining law and order throughout the length and breadth of Kebbi State.

    These accomplishments are not without the assurances of your unalloyed support in our commitment to preserve peace and improve security in the state.

    Let me begin by expressing my profound gratitude to the Ag. Inspector General of Police, IGP kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM for finding me worthy of being posted as the 35th Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State and more importantly, his unwavering support and guidance in approaching the security challenges faced by the state.

    My Profuse appreciation also goes to the Executive Governor of Kebbi state, His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his strong leadership and support in boosting the Tactical and Operational activities of the Command.

    The State Command within the period of my assumption of duty has recorded tremendous successes which includes, but not limited to the following:-

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ARMED ROBBERY AND ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED FIREARMS:-

    On the 22nd June 2023 at about 2020hrs, the following suspects namely:- One Micheal Yunusa (2) Abu Yayi Alhaji (3) Bomboy Dan karami and (4) Danjuma Ibrahim conspired with each other in possession of Locally made revolver Guns and prohibited live ammunitions, they used the weapons to attack the duo of (1) Abubakar Alhaji Dikko ‘m’ of Ribah and (2) Umar Garba ‘m’ of, Danko/Wasagu LGA and robbed them of three motorcycles valued about eight hundred thousand Naira (N800,000). Investigation has been completed and suspects already charged to court for prosecution.

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE, FRAUD AND IMPERSONATION:-

    On the 23rd July 2023 at about 08:45 hrs, one Faisal Saidu ‘m’ aged 21yrs of Kawarin Kudi, Zango LGA of Katsina state, dressed in military camouflage uniform, bargained a Motor vehicle Honda Jazz at a cost of Two Million Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,200,000), in Birnin Kebbi town.

    While test driving the said vehicle, he fraudulently ran away with the Motor vehicle without paying.

    The suspect was trailed and arrested in Katsina state with the vehicle while trying to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer.

    Investigation has been completed and suspect will be charged to Court for prosecution.

    RECOVERY OF AMMUNITION:-

    On 24th July, 2023 at about 1000hrs, acting on intelligence, one Hauwa Suleiman `f’ of Babbar Dogo Village, Maru LGA of Zamfara State, was arrested in possession of five Hundred and sixty six (566) rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition. The case is under investigation.

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, THEFT AND RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY:-

    On the 16th August, 2023 at about 07:25hrs one Huzaifa Atiku aka ‘No Boko’ was arrested by Detectives on Surveillance Patrol at Gwadangaji/Kawara road in possession of a disassembled motorcycle spare parts, concealed in a bag.

    After a diligent investigation, three additional gang members namely:- (1) Faruku Sani aka UU (2) Abbas Abubakar (3) Shafi’u muhammed (4) Abdulaziz Abubakar AKA Langwai both `m’ of Gwadangaji area and (5) Atiku Zaki `m’ of Birnin Kebbi town, who specialized in motorcycle snatching in Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi and nearby villages were also arrested in connection with the case.

    Furthermore, on the 28th August, 2023 at about 2000hrs, three additional suspects namely; Yakubu B. Kaka, Ayuba B. Kaka and Bello Muhammed all `m’ of Aleiro housing estate and Gwadangaji town, Birnin Kebbi respectively, were arrested in connection with the case.

    Investigation will soon be completed and the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution.

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, VANDALIZATION AND THEFT:-

    On the 18th, 19th and 20th August 2023 at different times during night patrol, a team of Policemen arrested a gang of six suspects who specialized in vandalizing and stealing of street light armoured cables within Birnin Kebbi metropolis.

    The suspects are namely:- (1) Ahmed Basiru (2) Mustapha Aliyu (3) Mohammed Dauda (4) Faruku Abdullahi and (5) Safiyanu Umar all ‘M’ of Tudun wada, Badariya, Illela-yari and Rafin Atiku areas of Birnin Kebbi respectively.

    Exhibits of armoured cables were recovered in their possession.

    The Suspects will be arraigned in Court upon completion of investigation.

    CULPABLE HOMICIDE:-

    On the 19th August 2023 at about 18:30hrs the deceased; Abdulmajid Nasiru ‘m’ of Almasira area of Jega town, went to collect his money, the sum of Four Hundred and eighty five Thousand Naira (N485,000), which the suspect, one Aminu Bello `m’ of the same address, borrowed from him.

    In the process, the suspect lured his victim into a nearby bush and stabbed him with a knife on the neck.

    As a result, the victim fell down unconscious and was rushed to Aisha Muhammadu Buhari General Hospital, Jega, where a medical Doctor confirmed him death.

    Detectives swung into action and apprehended the suspect who was about to escape.

    The suspect already confessed to his crime and will be charged to Court for prosecution.

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, VANDALIZATION AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT AN OFFENCE TO WIT THEFT:-

    On 21st July, 2023, a team of Policemen while on patrol along Birnin Kebbi-Kalgo road sighted an unknown group of hoodlums vandalizing electricity aluminum transmission wire.

    On sighting the Policemen, the suspects abandoned the vandalized cables and took to their heels.

    Two bags of cable wires were recovered and taken to Police Station by the Police.

    Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the fleeing suspects.

    RECOVERY OF ROCKET LAUNCHER:-

    Unknown armed bandits invaded Dan-umaru Village, Bena district of Danko/Wasagu LGA.

    On receipt of the report, a combined team of Policemen from Dan-ummaru Police Station and Vigilante, swiftly responded and engaged them to a gun duel.

    They successfully repelled the attack and recovered one rocket launcher.

    The suspects escaped with various degrees of gun shot wounds.

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ARMED ROBBERY AND CAUSING HURT:-

    On 24th August, 2023 at about 20:23hrs, a motorcyclist, one Abubakar Isah `m’ of Badariya area, Birnin Kebbi, was chartered by the suspects namely: one Muhammadu Lawali AKA Alfari `m’ of Galbin Danmarke Village, Augie LGA (2) Iliyasu and (3) Rima still at large.

    While on transit, the suspects hijacked him, used an iron rod, beat him twice on his head and neck.

    As a result, he fell down unconscious and they carted away with his motorcycle bajaj, red in color valued at N470.000.

    On receipt of the report, a team of Policemen swung into action and succeeded in arresting one of the suspects and recovered the stolen motorcycle, efforts are on top gear to arrest his accomplices. Case is under investigation.

    CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT AN OFFENCE TO WIT THEFT:-

    On 25th August, 2023 at about 03:00hrs, a team of Policemen attached to Kalgo Divisional Police Headquarters, while on patrol along Kalgo-Jega road, intercepted and arrested one Nafi’u Ibrahim AKA Onda and Ilyasu Ibrahim AKA Babangida with two Vehicles, both Golfs, red and blue in colors, attempting to steal Animals.

    During interrogation, the suspects confessed that, they specialized in stealing domestic animals in Kalgo, Jega, Maiyama, Koko and Yauri areas.

    Case is under investigation after which the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution.

    UNLAWFUL DETENTION WITH INTEND TO HAVE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE AND RAPE:-

    On 17th August, 2023, at about 13:00hrs, one Ahmed Muhammed `m’ of Koko town, Koko-Besse LGA, reported that his Daughter, one Nadiya Ahmed `f’ aged 16yrs of same address, left his house to unknown destination.

    During investigation, she was traced somewhere in Koko town, when interviewed, she disclosed that, one Suleiman Abubakar (2) Yunusa Garba (3) Suleiman Hamza (4) Yahaya Abubakar and (5) Shamsudden muhammed all `m’ of the same address lured her to their houses on different occasion and had sexual intercourse with her.

    Suspects have been apprehended and on conclusion of investigation they will be arraigned in Court.

    DEFILEMENT AND CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION:-

    On 21/08/2023 at about 21:00hrs, one Yusha’u Adamu `m’ of Aleiro town, reported that, on 18/08/2023 at about 1800hrs, his younger sister’s daughter, one Amina Isiya `f’ aged 10yrs, of the same address was defiled by one Saidu Sani, AKA Dankahuwa `m’ of the same address. After having canal knowledge of the victim, he threatened to kill her if she dares reveal the secret.

    CRIMINAL TRESPASS AND THEFT:-

    On the 26/06/2023, and 02/08/2023 the suspect, one Anas Shehu `m’ of Cinema area, Sokoto city, Sokoto State, criminally trespassed in to Union Bank and keystone Bank, Birnin Kebbi and carted away one Tecno spark 10c android phone valued at N100,000 and one I-phone promax valued at N560,000 respectively.

    In the light of the above, I want to use this medium to send a stern warning to all criminally minded persons in the State to either repent or carry their bags and relocate out of the state, if not, the long arm of the law will eventually catch up with them.

    I also want to appeal on all stakeholders to cooperate more with the Police in improving Police-Public Partnership as we seek to employ a multidimensional approach to curb the activities of miscreants infiltrating the territorial boundaries of Kebbi state.

    Consequently, I want to call on members of the public to be vigilant, as cases of theft of domestic animals are on the increase in the State.

    Similarly, prospective buyers are hereby warned to verify the authenticity of domestic animals before buying with a view to avoid being arrested for the offence of receiving stolen property.

    In the same vain, I want to appeal to the commercial motorcyclists (okada men) to be wary of the type of people they convey during their daily businesses.

    They are also requested to desist from operating during the night hours to avoid being victims of circumstances.

    Finally, I want to also call on all law abiding citizens to always be watchful, vigilant and avail the Police and other security agencies with timely and accurate information that will assist in the detection and prevention of crime as well as the apprehension of offenders in the State.
