The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) has reiterated its commitment to achieving all deliverables in line with the 8-point agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu current administration.

Adebayo Thomas, the Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry disclosed this in a statement.

This pledge was made during the Ministry’s 3rd quarter retreat, aimed at reviewing the presidential mandate and the Ministry’s deliverables.

The Minister, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole emphasized the importance of the 8-Point Agenda and the need for all agencies to align with the key deliverables.

The Minister said: “The 8-point Agenda is clear, so let us know where your challenges are. We are ready to help the heads of Agencies deliver in line with the key deliverable agenda of the present administration”.

Dr. Oduwole also highlighted the significance of the performance bond signed at the beginning of the administration to ensure that Ministries, Departments, and Agencies focused on presidential priorities.

Minister of State, Senator John Owan Enoh, underscored the importance of stakeholder commitment to delivering on the President’s mandate.

Enoch said: “We are going through trying times, and if this Ministry can work hard to deliver to Nigerians, that would be a great achievement for this administration”.

Senator Enoh urged all Agency Heads to put in their best efforts, saying that the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is a sector where much is expected.

The retreat also featured presentations by the Special Assistant to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, represented by key members of staff.

The presentations focused on performance indicators and indices, with the Head of the Central Coordinating Unit, Osege Obei Osege, noting that delivery units set up by the previous administration have been institutionalized through Executive Order 12, in line with global best practices.

Dr. Aisha Kabir, another member of the Policy Coordinating Office, emphasized that deliverables allowed the government to drive its policies to impact the people, aligning with presidential priorities.

The retreat served as a platform for participants to deepen their understanding of the delivery process and align their actions with the overarching goals of the Ministry.

Dr. Oduwole highlighted the Ministry’s crucial role in realizing President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria, particularly focusing on priority 7: Accelerating Diversification through Industrialization, Digitization, and Innovative Technology.

She said: “We have the opportunity to create jobs, boost exports, and enhance our country’s economic competitiveness”.

Senator Enoh reiterated the importance of the redefined eight Presidential Priority Areas, saying: “The focus today is not only to review our performance over the last quarter but also to tackle the challenges we’ve encountered in enhancing service delivery.”

He expressed confidence in overcoming obstacles and fostering sustainable growth in the sector.

The Central Delivery Contribution Unit team, under the adviser to the President on policy and coordination, provided an overview of the Federal Government Delivery system and presidential priorities, understanding the ministerial deliverables for FMITI, and the CDCU Delivery framework and templates.

The Permanent Secretary, FMITI, Amb. Nura Abba Rimi, was represented by Director Reforms and Coordination, Mr. Nasir Abbas.

The FMITI reaffirmed its commitment to a fair, inclusive, and equitable Multilateral Trading System.

The Ministry said it remained dedicated to ongoing economic reforms, improving the investment regime, and enhancing ease of doing business under President Tinubu’s leadership.

The retreat highlighted the constructive nature of the review process and assured continued commitment to trade reforms and World Trade Organization, (WTO) obligations.
