The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Mrs Zanaib Ahmed, has lauded the appointment of Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, as the first female substantive Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) by the President Muhammadu Buhari.
A statement by Mr Yunusa Abdullahi, Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the minister on Monday, said that new AGF paid a courtesy visit to the Minister.
The Minister said that her appointment followed the successful conduct of a selection process to fill the existing vacancy.
The Minister said that Madein was taking over from Mr Sylva Okolieaboh, who has been in Acting capacity as the AGF since his appointment in June 2022.
Ahmed commended the President for the appointment of the first female AGF she also commended the outgoing acting AGF for his meritorious service to his fatherland and attaining the age of 60.
The minister also enjoined the newly appointed AGF and the outgoing to work together for seamless transition.
