The FCT Emergency Department,
(FEMD), has proposed greater collaboration with NTA Abuja to enhance disaster management and response in the FCT.
Nkechi Isa, FEMD Head of Public Affairs disclosed this in a statement signed on Tuesday.
The Director of FEMD Engr Muhammad Dikko stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to NTA Abuja.
Dikko informed that emergency management went beyond rescue operations and provision of relief materials.
“Public enlightenment and early warning dissemination enhance disaster risk reduction”, he said.
He called for more collaboration in the areas of public enlightenment ,regular television programmes and public service announcements on flood safety, fire prevention, building safety and general disaster preparedness.
The General Manager NTA Abuja, Hajia Talatu Lawan promised to sustain the existing collaboration between the two agencies.
“Our collaboration will continue. As long as you brief us on time, we will be there. What you do concerns all of us”. She said.
Management staff of both agencies attended the event.
