The FCT Emergency Management Department, (FEMD), has called off search operations, for possible victims in the rubble of the collapsed three storey structure behind the Gudu market.
FEMD’s Head of Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa disclosed this in a statement.
The Ag. Director General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed announced the end of the rescue operations.
According to him, having reached ground zero, no victims were found beneath the rubble.
Rescue efforts at the incident scene commenced at 7 am on Sunday.
The search was called off at 8.30am,
Engr. Abdulrahman commended Julius Berger Nigeria and Zeberced for their contributions to the rescue operations.
The Secretary Health and Environment Secretariat, Dr Fasawe, National Emergency Management Agency, Nigerian Army, FCT Police Command, FCT Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corp and other stakeholders participated in the rescue operations.
Recall that a three storey building under construction behind the Gudu market, collapsed yesterday injuring 12 persons and killing five persons.
