The Executives of the Environmental Correspondents Association of Nigeria (EMCAN), led by the Chairman, Joycelyn Ellakeche Adah, has met with the immediate past Chairman of the Association, Mr. Amechi Chukwuekwu Oyema as part of efforts to strengthen unity and advance the growth of EMCAN.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed on Tuesday by Joycelyn Ellakeche Adah, the Chairman, EMCAN and the Secretary, Samuel Adeyinka.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the new Executives to appreciate the former Chairman for his sportsmanship and commitment to the growth Association, particularly his willingness to support a smooth transition of leadership.
The meeting also focused on the future of EMCAN, with both sides exchanging ideas on how to strengthen the Association, promote professionalism among environmental journalists, attract more opportunities for members and reposition EMCAN for greater impact.
The New Chairman, Adah thanked the immediate past Chairman for his openness and support, and reiterated the commitment of the new leadership to building an inclusive and stronger Association where every member has a role to play.
The former Chairman, Mr Oyema stressed the need for collective responsibility among EMCAN members to achieve both local and International recognition.
The meeting also focused on possible ways to address some grey areas that could hinder the success of the current EMCAN Executives.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to the unity, progress and continued growth of EMCAN.
