The new acting Zonal Director, Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Aisha Abubakar has charged staff of the Directorate on diligence, discipline and professionalism in discharging their duties.

Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Spokesperson disclosed this in a statement signed on Saturday.

She gave the charge in Enugu at her maiden meeting with staff of the Directorate. According to her, the core values of the Commission which include Integrity, Courage, Professionalism and Collaboration are fundamental to achieving the mission and vision of the Commission and any staff who fails to uphold these values will be properly disciplined.

“Let us change the narrative. Let us tell them that we are different and we are pacesetters. It happened everywhere I went to and I am sure we are not going to be different here. Everybody will come and do their best and leave. I will do my best and leave, you will do yours and leave but let us be proud of what we leave behind”, she said.

While calling on staff to be one another’s brother’s keeper, Abubakar enjoined the officers to always put the interest of the nation first, adding that as a family, “we can overcome anything that comes our way”.

She said, “let us not betray one another for selfish reasons. Let us hold one another’s hand. Where one is about falling, let us help them to stand. One for all, all for one.

“Like our Chairman says, being an EFCC officer is a calling. God knows why he chose us to be here. So why don’t we make that difference?”.

Abubakar took over from Commander of the EFCC, CE Mohammed Shuaib Bello who retired on February 26, 2025.

Before her appointment, she was Head of Investigation at the Headquarters.
