The Director General said this in a Democracy Day message on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Ahmed urged Nigerians to honour the sacrifices that fellow citizens had paid for the democracy enjoyed by present Nigeria.

Here’s a full text of the NEMA DG’s message:

As we celebrate Democracy Day. Let us take a moment to reflect on the value of freedom and the remarkable strides our nation has made.

This auspicious occasion symbolizes the indomitable spirit of Nigerians in shaping our collective destiny.

It serves as a reminder of our commitment to fostering unity, embracing diversity and charting a path towards a brighter future.

Together with all Nigerians. We strive towards a nation where every voice resonates. Every life is valued, and every community flourishes.

Let us also pay homage to the sacrifices made by our founding fathers and valiant individuals who fought for our democratic rights.

On this momentous occasion. Let us renew our pledge to uphold the core principles of democracy: justice, equity, and inclusivity.

NEMA stands tall in its mission to confront challenges head on, deliver prompt assistance and foster resilience in the face of adversities.

Let us continue building a nation we can truly be proud of! #DemocracyDay #UnitedForProgress #NEMAcares.
