The Defence Headquarters, (DHQ), on Monday, confirmed the rescue of 10 National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), members who were abducted by suspected kidnappers from Egume Forest in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Gen. Onoja said the operation was still ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The victims were among 15 corps members reportedly kidnapped last week while travelling from Abuja to Bayelsa State.
Kidnappers were said to have demanded N20 million ransom from the families of some of the victims.
General Onoja said: “The operation was still ongoing, with security forces working to rescue the remaining victims and arrest the suspects.”
He urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant.
General Onoja said: “The members of the public are urged to remain calm and vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious movement or information that could help rescue the remaining victims and arrest the perpetrators”.
