The Dangote Group operates according to it’s policy of entrenching environmental sustainability by identifying, measuring, and mitigating actual and potential negative environmental footprints in all its operations.
At the recently concluded 2-day Environmental Journalism workshop at the Dangote Academy, Obajana in Kogi State, the Head, Dangote Academy, Wale Adedeji said that Dangote Cement produced without environmental pollution by suppressing the dust and planting trees.
Themed: Reporting the Environment for Sustainability, the workshop was organised by the Dangote Academy with Climate Africa Initiative & Centre, (CAMIC), publishers of NatureNews as media partner.
The Head of Dangote Academy said:
“Dangote Cement does not allow dust to fly around the environment so what we do is basically that when we produce Cement, our dust is not allowed to fly around.
“We use the electrostatic prostetator and the bag out technology to trap dust and recycle it into the system.
“We operate with environment consciousness. You can see here is very clean, our sky also is clean and with no pollution, even though we are currently producing.
“Not only that, we make sure that the environment is safe by planting trees. You can see trees everywhere. This Academy plants not less than 100 trees every year.
“Its the same thing everywhere we operate. We plant trees to keep the environment green every year.”
Participants at the workshop learned that environmental sustainability was the responsibility of the conservation of natural resources and protection of global ecosystems to support health and wellbeing now and for future generations.
