The just concluded Nigeria Customs Service Public Relations (PR) 2026 Conference may have come and gone, but the shared knowledge and information management between technocrats and those in the PR Unit of NCS at the event, will remain indelible in the minds of all and sundry participants.

Blaise Tochukwu Elumezie, the PRO, COMJAN, SouthEast/South South Zones disclosed this in a statement signed on Tuesday.

Speaking shortly after the end of the week long PR Conference, which was attended by the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the President of Coalition of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (COMJAN), South East and South South Zones, Prof. Ralph John, lauded the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his innovative leadership strides in pioneering the affairs of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Prof John, in appreciation to the numerous achievements and transformative measures being experienced in the management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), thanked CG Adeniyi for his approval of the 2026 PR Conference Week that was successfully held in PortHarcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The maritime group President equally described the theme of this year’s PR Conference: “Realigning Corporate Communication As A Strategic Driver Of Instructional Effectiveness And Public Trust;” as apt, considering its essence of ensuring and disclosing the effective collaboration, revenue generation, transparency and trust, which are essential in what the Nigeria Customs Service represents.

While expressing his heartfelt gratitude to God for granting journey mercies to all the Commands’ PROs and other officers back to their respective Commands, Prof John urged the PROs to take advantage of the PR Conference to ensure a stronger and effective collaboration with maritime media practitioners.

COMJAN President in the meantime, commended the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller (DC) Abdullahi Maiwada for the high level of competence which he exhibited in the course of the conference, especially during the interactive session at the Media Parley.

Prof. John further applauded NPRO Maiwada, for using the medium of the Media Parley to reiterate the need for training and retraining of maritime journalists to be able to adapt to the technicalities and terminologies that are associated with the operation of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The COMJAN President in conclusion, thanked the Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 2026 PR Conference Week, Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) Emmanuel Tangwa and all members of the Committee for a job well done.
