Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, addressed stakeholders at the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) which held in December last year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During COP16, the Minister emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts to combat desertification and land degradation, highlighting the impact of these issues on food security and climate change.

He called for increased investment in sustainable land management practices and the importance of empowering local communities to participate in decision-making processes.

The conference brought together representatives from various countries to share best practices and develop strategies for achieving land degradation neutrality.
