The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun on Thursday,
convened a high-level strategic conference with senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force at the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer FPRO Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the meeting was held in furtherance of the IGP’s commitment to strengthening internal security and protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians.

The IGP, in his address, commended the dedication, resilience, and sacrifices of senior officers in maintaining public safety across the country.

He issued comprehensive operational directives to all Commissioners of Police and tactical commanders, mandating them to reinforce intelligence-gathering mechanisms, deepen community policing frameworks through sustained citizen engagement, ensure lawful and professional protection of vulnerable communities, and immediately scale up visible policing through expanded deployment of personnel nationwide ahead of the yuletide season to deter crime and reassure the public of their safety.

IGP Egbetokun also addressed the ongoing implementation of the Presidential Directive on the withdrawal and redeployment of police personnel attached to VIPs.

He emphasised that this is essential to strengthening general policing operations, boosting manpower availability for frontline duties, and enhancing public safety.

The IGP disclosed that 11,566 officers have so far been withdrawn from VIP security assignments, noting that these personnel will be promptly redeployed to bolster nationwide policing efforts.

Reiterating the unrelenting commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP affirmed that the Force will continue to intensify all necessary measures to ensure a safe, secure, and peaceful environment for every citizen, resident or visitor to Nigeria.
