    By Miriam Humbe

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Wednesday, convened a strategic conference with senior police officers from the ranks of CPs and above at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Building, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, disclosed this in a statement signed on Wednesday.

The conference focused on addressing emerging security threats and reinforcing the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

During the conference, the IGP commended the officers on their dedication to duty and their effectiveness, which had led to a significant achievement for the Nigeria Police Force in the last 2 months.

From April to May 2025, the Nigeria Police Force recorded the arrest of 1,774 criminal suspects for various offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and murder; the recovery of 274 assorted firearms and 2,583 rounds of ammunition; the recovery of 187 stolen or unregistered vehicles, and the rescue of 476 kidnapped victims, some from extremely difficult terrains.

The IGP challenged the senior officers to redouble their crime-fighting efforts, respond to incidents in a timely and decisive manner, and maintain a robust presence in communities.

He further emphasised the importance of proactive measures and urged all officers to be vigilant in anticipating and responding to potential threats, stressing the need for the Force to stay ahead of criminal elements by employing intelligence-driven strategies and leveraging advancements in technology to enhance crime-fighting capabilities.

The conference concluded with a renewed commitment from all senior officers to implement the directives of the IGP and work collaboratively to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order.
