The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu, has reiterated commitment towards achieving the developmental goals set by the President Bola Tinubu.

Bagudu said this at the presentation of the 1st-3rd quarters performance assessment on implementation of the eight presidential priorities and ministerial deliverables, in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said that the presidential priorities and ministerial deliverables were central to government’s agenda.

He said that they served as the cornerstone of efforts to transform the nation, both immediate needs and laying the foundation for long-term sustainable growth.

According to him, each priority has been carefully crafted to respond to the aspirations of the citizens and challenges of the times.

He said that they cover economic growth, job creation, infrastructure development, ensuring rule of law.

Bagudu said that they also cover inclusivity and level playing field, addressing fiscal challenges, improving access to education, healthcare and tackling insecurity.

The minister said that the priorities were a critical responsibility that rested on all the ministers, policymakers and the dedicated public servant.

He said that it required collaboration, commitment and accountability.

”Our interaction today will focus on examining our Q1- Q3 performance to enable us improve on some areas for the achievement of set targets.

”Identifying challenges that may have hindered progress in some areas and discuss strategies for enhancing effective coordination and collaboration for efficient service delivery.

”It is vital that we take stock of our progress, identify gaps and collectively seek solutions to ensure that we meet the executive.

”I am confident that at the end of this exercise, we will be enriched and have clear understanding of the basis of the assessment with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism ” he said.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Policy Coordination, Ms Hadiza Usman, said that the ministry’s performance assessment was very high, and very encouraging.

She said that the ministry of budget and planning had the first priority of reforming the economy for sustainable growth.

”We have two ministries contributing to that, which is finance and ministry of budget and economic planning,” she said.
