The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Friday convened a technical meeting of humanitarian sectors to discuss their levels of activation, challenges and identify the way forward towards efficient sectoral interventions in the flood situation across the country.
NEMA’s Director General, Mrs Zubaida Umar who was represented by the Director, Planning Research and Forecasting, Dr Onimode Abdullahi Bandele who declared open the meeting.
She said the objective was also to coordinate responses and harmonise data for optimal resource utilization and efficiency.
She urged the sectoral leads to work with other members of their sectors in activating to respond to the relevant areas of challenge faced by flood impacted communities.
The DG NEMA said the Agency was effectively committed to carrying out it’s coordination roles in disaster management.
