Minister of Industry Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite on Monday, said the German government was interested in building skills and ensuring the education for artisans where both countries could conveniently partner under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, (MSMEs).

The Minister said this during the bilateral inter-ministerial meeting with the German Minister of Economic Development and Cooperation, Svenja Schulze who was accompanied by a 9-man delegation and the Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment, in Abuja.

The German Minister of Economic Development and Cooperation, Svenja Schulze said there was the need to promote a bilateral relationship between the two countries as Nigeria was a country with so many creative young people.

Schulze also said that it was necessary to address the issue of jobs, food security, and education.

She said that her country, Germany, was looking forward to deepening the relationship between both countries.

While speaking with journalists, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun said that there was the need to grow the nation’s economy, create jobs and reduce poverty through a viable private sector.

He said: “There is a need to grow the economy and increase productivity, create jobs, and reduce poverty as these can only be done by having a successful and thriving private sector.

“Issues of rising prices are also a concern to the government and all Nigerians.

“Some of the major steps taken are on demand and supply, especially in the area of agricultural products. President Ahmed Tinubu has intervened in that sector by providing grains and fertilizer to farmers.

“He also intervened in the area of rice, maize, wheat, and cassava production, these all will bring down inflation very soon.”

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to take place in the weeks ahead in order to streamline planning and decision programmes by the government.

Present at the event was the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, (NIPC), Aisha Rimi among other dignitaries.
