As part of the ongoing decisive operations across Operation ENDURING PEACE Joint Operations Area, troops of sector 2 deployed at Zak village in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Saturday, 29 August 2026 at about 09:50 hours, successfully neutralized suspected terrorists element, recovered weapons and other logistic items.

Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE disclosed this in a statement signed on Sunday.
The Operation which was intelligence based aimed at disrupting criminal elements activities and denying terrorists freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area led to the successful neutralization of a terrorist element and recovery of weapons.
During the encounter, the troops while conducting stop and search operations sighted and intercepted a green-coloured Golf vehicle with registration number DKA-808XM. In an attempt to search the vehicle, troops discovered a well fabricated and concealed compartment inside the dashboard.
While troops directed the driver to open the compartment, the driver bluntly refused and tactically fled into nearby bush.
Consequently, troops aggressively pursued and apprehended the driver. Upon being apprehended, the driver attempted to disarm one of the soldiers and was swiftly neutralized.
Items recovered after thorough search of the vehicle includes, 2 AK 47 rifles, a magazines, 2 wooden rifle butts, 9 magazine pouches, 2 camel bags, 6 jungle hats, a mobile phone and an ATM card.
The Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana have commended the troops for maintaining decisive and aggressive posture, stressing that this posture must be sustained in carrying out offensive operations against criminal elements within Operation ENDURING PEACE Joint Operations Area.
Major General Dangana equally thanked the citizens for their support and called for more collaboration by providing timely and actionable information to enable troops discharge their constitutional responsibilities in securing lives and property.
