    Zone 5 Hqtrs Benin City Flags Off Activities For National Police Day 2026

    As part of activities marking the forthcoming National Police Day Celebration slated for April 7th, 2026, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5 Command Headquarters, Benin City, comprising Delta and Edo State Police Commands, AIG Salman-Dogo Garba, has announced the commencement of preparatory programmes across the Zone.

    SP Tijani Momoh, Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement signed on Saturday for the Assistant Inspector-General of Police,
    Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City.

    The AIG disclosed that the Command is fully prepared to actively participate in the nationwide celebration, which is themed: “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

    The theme reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s renewed commitment to strengthening collaboration with communities, enhancing public trust, and promoting inclusive policing.

    He noted that the celebration will also serve as an avenue to honour the sacrifices and dedication of officers, especially those who paid the supreme price in the line of duty, while showcasing the operational capabilities and professionalism of the Force.

    The two Commands under the Zone have been duly directed to key into the planned activities and ensure seamless execution in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, *IGP Olatunji Rilwanu Disu.

    In accordance with the approved national programme of events, the Zone will observe the following activities:

    Monday, 30th March 2026
    • Environmental Sanitation and Clean-Up Exercise
    • Medical Outreach Services at selected locations

    Tuesday, 31st March 2026
    • Public Walkathon within the metropolis to promote Police-Community Engagement.

    Wednesday, 1st April 2026
    • Public Enlightenment Campaigns on electoral violence, cultism, and general security awareness
    • Road Safety Awareness Campaign for drivers and road users

    Thursday, 2nd April 2026
    • Interactive Sessions with critical stakeholders
    • Presentation of welfare packages to families of fallen officers

    Tuesday, 7th April 2026 (Abuja)
    • Grand Finale featuring Ceremonial Parade and Tactical Demonstrations

    The AIG, Zone 5 Benin City, calls on residents within the Zone to actively support the Police and partner agencies in ensuring a successful celebration.

    He further reiterates the Command’s unwavering commitment to professional, transparent, and community-oriented policing. Officers are encouraged to use this period to deepen public engagement, build confidence, and uphold the values of service and integrity.
