President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will on Thursday 25th July, 2024, launch the Nigeria Police Green Initiative at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) revealed this in a statement signed on Wednesday.

The Nigeria Police Green Initiative is an initiative of the NPF to promote environmental sustainability within the Force’s operations and facilities, as well as reduce the environmental footprint of its activities through the implementation of eco-friendly practices and the adoption of renewable energy sources.

The launch of this initiative will include various activities such as tree planting, the establishment of green zones within police formations, and the promotion of sustainable practices among police personnel.

It was believed that through this initiative, the Nigeria Police Force could contribute significantly to the global efforts to combat Climate Change and protect our environment for future generations.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu joined well-meaning Nigerian and policing stakeholders on 24th July, 2024, for the commissioning of two landmark projects of the Nigeria Police Force – the NPF National Cybercrime Centre and the NPF Resource Centre.

The NPF National Cybercrime Centre is a state-of-the-art, ultramodern, and digitalized office complex dedicated to anti-cybercrime operations, and will serve as the central hub for national efforts to combat cybercrime, leveraging advanced technology and digital tools to enhance our operational capabilities.

The NPF Resource Centre, also commissioned on Wednesday, is a multifaceted facility that includes state-of-the-art conference halls and accommodation spaces for various events, designed to support a wide range of activities, including training sessions, conferences, and workshops, providing a conducive environment for professional development and collaboration.

The President, represented by the Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to investing in the NPF through provision of equipment, facilities, and adequate training while recognizing the importance of the NPF-NCCC in upholding national security and its alignment with the reformation agenda of Mr. President.

He also called for interagency collaboration as a key to stamping out inter-agency rivalry.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, appreciated the President for his administration’s support to the technological advancement of policing in the country while assuring that the Force would make judicious use of the projects to showcase professionalism and clampdown on the activities of cybercriminals in Nigeria.
