The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Maigari Uba Ahmadu, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau disclosed this in a statement signed on Tuesday.

The visit was aimed at fostering mutual understanding and strengthening civil-military cooperation for national development.

During the visit, General Musa emphasized the strong link between peace and development, stating, “Communities with more development often enjoy more peace.”

He reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) unwavering commitment to supporting the Ministry’s regional initiatives and contributing meaningfully to national growth.

The CDS expressed gratitude to the Ministry for its assistance in training the AFN Special Forces, noting that such support significantly enhances the operational capacity of the military and improves national security.

General Musa further assured the Ministry of continued collaboration and support from the Defence Headquarters to ensure it effectively delivers on its constitutional mandate.

The Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Maigari Uba Ahmadu, warmly welcomed the CDS and his delegation, describing the visit as historic.

He reiterated the Ministry’s supervisory role over regional commissions and praised the AFN for its sacrifices in safeguarding the unity and territorial integrity of Nigeria.

The Minister also paid tribute to the gallant officers and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the nation.

He lauded the military’s initiatives, particularly its educational support programs, including the establishment of schools for children of repentant insurgents.

Alhaji Uba Ahmadu expressed confidence in the capacity of the Nigerian military to overcome the current security challenges facing the country.
