The Minister of State for Works, and the Minister superintending FERMA, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Esq., has disclosed that Nigerians will be given the best in road maintenance and safety across Federal roads network.

Director (Information/ PR) at FERMA, Maryam M. Sanusi (Mrs.) disclosed this in a statement signed on Thursday.

The Minister said during a familiarization tour to Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) Headquarters on Wednesday 5th February, 2025.

He said Nigerians deserved the best experience in pleasurable ride and security from all forms of danger when using the road.

Goronyo bemoaned the poor budgetary allocation for roads maintenance in the country as factor militating against the realization of this dream.

He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given priority to infrastructure especially road infrastructure but poor budgetary provision occasioned by competing needs from all sectors and the state of the economy has made things difficult.

The Minister who was in company of the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Adebiyi Olusesan Olufunso visited FERMA proposed Corporate Headquarters of the Agency on the Abuja Airport Road.

The Minister said he is comfortable with the performance of the Agency and is ready to give all necessary support to ensure the Presidential mandate is achieved in the road sector.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Adebiyi Olusesan Olufunso, in his remarks, stressed that it is because funds are inadequate and releases not timely, that we are witnessing some setbacks in the road sector.

He said that FERMA staff were highly committed to duties and the Agency possesses some of the best staff in the Civil Service.

FERMA’s Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Emeka Agbasi, appreciated the Minister of State for his support and commitment to seeing that the Federal roads network is motorable all year round.
