The Command in its effort to sustain and ensure that criminal exploits are tamed and reduced to the barest minimum in the State, has recorded remarkable achievements in the fight against crime from January 1, to date.
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ABDUCTION/CHILD THEFT
On 10/01/2024 at about 1320hrs, Police operatives attached to Keffi Division on routine patrol sighted an ongoing mob action and went in to rescue the victim.
Upon enquiry, it was discovered that the victim, Ismaila Adamu ‘M’ abducted a 5yrs old boy at Tsohon Kasuwa, Keffi; he was immediately arrested and taken to Hospital for treatment while the Child rescued.
The suspect confessed to being a member of a syndicate that specialized in child theft and sell off same to the highest bidder.
Furthermore, the investigation was expanded by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and that led to the arrest of the following suspects namely: Hassana Jacob ‘F’ 30yrs, Elishua Idoko ‘F’ 43yrs, Gloria Ene ‘F’ 38yrs, Abdulkarim Abubakar ‘M’ 52yrs, Ramatu Ibrahim ‘F’ 41yrs, Victoria Cosmos ‘F’ 52yrs, Eforma Sunday ‘F’41yrs, Dorcas Ologbo ‘F’ 50yrs and Sherifat Amuda ‘F’ 45yrs.
Analysis conducted on the phones of the suspects revealed that forty five (45) children stolen have been sold and illegally adopted by unsuspecting members of the public across the country.
The suspects have confessed to the theft and selling of so many children at different prices ranging from #350,000 to #1,500,000 depending on their age and gender.
The suspects further stated that they steal and sell the Children by conspiring with Social Welfare officers of some ministries; where they produce fake documents and sell the Children to willing buyers.
So far, Six (6) Children have been rescued in Abuja, Ondo and Lagos State respectively. Effort is ongoing to arrest more suspects involved in the commission of the crime and recover more of the stolen Children.
ARREST OF SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF FAKE FOREIGN CURRENCY
On 12/02/2024 at about 1000hrs, based on credible intelligence, detectives attached to Masaka Division raided the hideout of suspected criminals located at Angwan Police, Masaka and got two suspects arrested namely: Mohammed Abubakar AKA Dan Libiya and Yahaya Bappa.
A search warrant was executed in the house where fake Forty five (45) bundles of one hundred Dollars ($100) denomination counterfeit notes worth $450,000, one Mask and white gown were recovered as exhibits.
The suspects have confessed to have bought the fake Dollars at Maradi, Niger Republic at the rate of two thousand naira per bundle; they pose as Native Doctors or spirit to deceive unsuspecting members of the public who come to seek spiritual assistance and dupe them.
ARREST OF PASTOR AND RECOVERY OF FIRE ARM
On 14/2/2024 at about 1530hrs, a complaint was lodged at Goshen city Division by a 31yrs old lady that on 13/2/2024 at about 2130hrs, that while returning from a prayer house, one Pastor in charge of Mount Zion Church, Auta Balefi, Daniel Akpadiaha offered her a lift in his Honda accord vehicle with Reg No GWA 584 RZ.
Surprisingly, he changed direction by driving to an isolated area where he stabbed her twice on her left hand, pulled off her entire clothes and attempt to force her into the trunk of his vehicle but she raised alarm and he fled.
Upon receipt of the report, police operatives attached to Goshen city launched a comprehensive investigation into the case.
Their effort paid off when the suspect was trailed to his house and arrested where one locally fabricated pistol, the vehicle used in commission of the act, clothes of the victim, her purse and a pink bag belonging to an unknown person were recovered in his vehicle.
Investigation is ongoing at State criminal Investigation Department, Lafia.
ARREST OF ONE NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERRY OF ONE AK 47 RIFFLE
On 10/01/2024 at about 1130hrs, acting based on credible information, operatives of the Command’s Anti robbery team on intelligence led Patrol along Fadaman Bauna intercepted a group of three young men suspected to be armed robbers riding on an unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle.
The hoodlums abandoned the motorcycle and took to flight on sighting the Police men, but were given a hot chase.
Consequently, one Kabiru Alhaji Yusuf was arrested while two others escaped. A search was conducted on him where one AK 47 riffle, one magazine and a motorcycle were recovered as exhibits.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM
On 21/01/2024 at about 0130hrs, a complaint was lodged at Gitata Division that unknown Gunmen Kidnapped one Bashir Mohammed ‘M’ 15yrs of Buzi Village.
Upon receipt of the complaint, Police operatives in collaboration with Vigilante swiftly launched a manhunt for the perpetrators. Consequently, one Namonde Mohammed was arrested in connection to the crime and the victim was rescued unhurt and re-united with his family while the other accomplices escaped.
A follow up Investigation also led to the arrest of one Isah Danbaba whom hitherto escaped by whiskers.
The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and Investigation is ongoing.
ARREST OF MOTORCYCLE THIEVES AND RECOVERY OF NINE (9) STOLEN MOTORCYLCES
On 26/01/2024 at about 1200hrs, a case of Motorcycle theft was lodged at the Security unit of Nasarawa State University, Keffi and the Police were contacted to carryout Investigation.
Reacting to the complaint, Police operatives attached to Angwan Lambu Division carried out a comprehensive Investigation that led to the arrest of one Najeeb Suleiman ‘M’ of Angwan Waje, Keffi; a notorious criminal who specializes in stealing of Motorcycles in Keffi and environs.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and led the Police to arrest two of his accomplices namely: Okashi Murtala and Ahmed Garba where Nine (9) stolen motorcycles of different brands were recovered as exhibits and have been charged to court and remanded in prison custody.
The Command hereby calls on anyone whose motorcycle was stolen, to visit Angwan Lambu Division with prove of ownership to claim the motorcycles.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER
On 07/02/2024 at about 1730hrs, based on a tip-off, Police operatives attached to Nasarawa Eggon Division arrested one Gomma Yunusa in connection to a case of kidnapping where they received a ransom of Two Million Naira (#2,000.000) before releasing the victim.
The suspect has confessed to the commission of the crime and stated that, he was invited by some of his friends to guard the victim where he was kept at their hideout in the forest till the ransom was paid.
He was given five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) as his share of the proceed.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKERS
On 06/01/2024 at about 1700hrs, a complaint was lodged at Uke Division by one Siyona Solomon that the duo of Happy Monday and Asaba Talatu Husseini conspired and sent her daughter, Rejoice Solomon ‘F’ 18yrs to Accra, Ghana for prostitution.
Upon receipt of the complaint, investigation was launched into the case.
Consequently, the above mentioned suspects were arrested and the victim was rescued and reunited with her family.
CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ABDUCTION
On 15/01/2024 at about 1300hrs, a complaint was lodged at ‘B’ Division, Lafia by one Fauziya A. Madaki that one Emmanuel Chimezie and Onydikachi Obi both males conspired and lured two of her daughters age 15&16yrs respectively to their House, had unlawful carnal knowledge of them and abducted one of them to unknown destination.
Consequently, the suspects were trailed and arrested.
Effort is ongoing to locate and rescue the abducted teenager. The suspects have been remanded in prison custody.
ARREST OF RAPE SUSPECT
On 08/01/2024 at about 1500hrs, a complaint was lodged at Akwanga Division that on same date at about 1400hrs, one Freedom Elijah ‘F’ 11years was in the bathroom bathing when one Isah Rabiu ‘M’ a neighbor of theirs’ rushed into the bathroom and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Upon receipt of the complaint, the suspect was trailed and arrested. He has confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing.
ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR DEFILEMENT OF A 4YEARS OLD GIRL
On 02/01/2024 at about 1400hrs, a complaint was lodged at Nasarawa Eggon Division by one Blessing Julius that one Thomas Alizi ‘M’ of Angwan Jarme, Nasarawa Eggon lured her 4yrs old daughter into his Kitchen and inserted his finger into her private parts thus, breaking the hymen.
Upon receipt of the report, the suspect was arrested and Doctor’s report confirmed forceful penetration.
Suspect has been remanded in prison custody.
ARREST OF RAPE SUSPECT
On 29/01/2024 at about 0900hrs a complaint was lodged at Goshen City Division by one Glory John that on 28/01/2024 at about 2230hrs, one Jibrin Danlami Ciroma ‘M’ of Uke came into her father’s house and walked into the mother’s room where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Upon receipt of the complaint the Police launched a manhunt and got the suspect arrested.
Preliminary investigation showed that the victim is mentally unstable and the suspect, being a friend to her husband came into the house and took advantage of her when he thought nobody was around.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and investigation has commenced.
Also, on 10/01/2024 at about 1000hrs, a report was filed at Assakio Division that one Sylvanus Julius, a native Doctor visited the residence of one Shuwe Agyo and told her that, her 13yrs old daughter is possessed with witchcraft thus, she should be brought to his house for treatment and purification.
Consequently, the girl was taken to him for treatment but he ended up having unlawful carnal knowledge of her severally.
When the victim couldn’t withstand it any longer, she opened up to her mother hence, the arrest.
The suspect has confessed to the commission of the crime and investigation is ongoing at State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED CRIMINALS AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE
On 11/02/2024 at about 0100hrs, one Omodiagbon Agbon Stanley lodged a report at Mararaba ‘A’ Division that on 10/02/2024 at about 2200hrs, he parked his white Toyota Sienna Bus with Registration Number KRD 177 YD loaded with Alcoholic drinks belonging to intercontinental Distilled Limited at zone 4, Aso Pada Mararaba to supply the drinks to a customer, he returned and discovered that the Vehicle had been taken away to an unknown destination.
Upon receipt of the complaint, Police operatives attached to Mararaba ‘A’ Division launched an Investigation into the case and got three suspects arrested; namely: Moses Mathew ‘M’ 47yrs, Alfred John ‘M’ 32yrs and Victor Odionye ‘M’ 22yrs all males of Aso Pada, Mararaba.
Consequently, the Vehicle was recovered but the content has been off-loaded by the suspects. Investigation is ongoing at State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia.
ARREST OF SUSPECTED CRIMINALS FOR ORGANISED CRIME
On 01/02/2024, a complaint was lodged by one Ibrahim Musa and Six others that they were deceived to pay the sum of one Million Naira each by officials of Quest International Company (QNet) with a promise to give them Job in the Company with weekly salary of One hundred and forty thousand naira.
However, since they made payment in December, 2023, they have waited for the commencement of the weekly payment to no avail.
Reacting to the unpleasant development, Police operatives of the Command stormed their hideout in Keffi where the following suspects were arrested namely: Solomon Okereke, Sistus Benjamin, Abba Yunana, Tonak Noah, Umaru Shuiabu, Fidelis Philemon, Japheth Bulus and Kingsley Manza.
Furthermore, eighteen (18) victims who were also waiting for the commencement of the weekly payment were also arrested but screened out when it was discovered that they were not involved in the commission of the crime.
The suspects have confessed to have received monies from the victims and converted it into crypto currency for their personal use.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects are: One POS Machine, CAC Certificate, QNet registration forms, identification card and deposit slip.
Similarly, on 09/02/2024 at about 2005hrs, operatives of the Command Anti-cultism unit while on intelligence based patrol in Lafia metropolis, raided an office located at Angwan Nungu which reports has it that it is being used to defraud unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of conducting online business.
A follow up investigation into the case led the operatives to another hide out of the scammers located at Wamba-by pass in Akwanga where eight suspects were arrested namely: Emmanuel Oga, Adole Moses, Friday Oche, Okwoche Patrick, Sale Dogara, Joseph B.Yohanna, Mohammed Mustapha and Mubarak Idris.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects includes, two CAC Certificates.
ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF STOLEN MOTORCYCLE
On 13/02/2024 at about 2130hrs, Police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Lafia, intercepted one Nuhu Umar ‘M’ of Bukan Kwoto and got him arrested.
Preliminary Investigation revealed that the suspect tricked a commercial Motorcyclist to convey him to Shinge Market; while on their way, he hit the commercial motorcyclist with an object and snatched the Motorcycle.
The victim has been rescued alive and taken to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital for treatment while the Motorcycle recovered. Investigation is ongoing.
