Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Environment, Mahmud Adam Kambari has said that despite the undeniable significance of environmental preservation to human well-being, past administrations have struggled to allocate resources commensurate with the scale and urgency of environmental challenges.

The Perm said this at the Technical Session of the 17th Meeting of the National Council on Environment (NCE), hosted in Abuja on Monday.

Humsimedia gathered that the Session was crucial, providing a platform for relevant role players and experts to engage in preliminary deliberations on the diverse memoranda submitted to the Council for consideration.

On the very important issue, the Perm Sec said: “As you are aware, one of the foremost challenges confronting our sector is the issue of funding.

“It is important, therefore, that we shine a spotlight on the critical issue of financing, with the aim of devising robust funding models and exploring diverse avenues for resource generation to address the sectoral needs effectively.”

He charged the participants to reflect on the pivotal role of environmental stewardship in shaping Nigeria’s future.

This year’s meeting was themed: “Environment Financing: Need to Mobilize More Windows for Generating Adequate Resources in Support of
    Environmental Sustainability Efforts”.

He said: “The theme is apt and resonates deeply with the priorities of this Administration, highlighting its commitment to harnessing energy and natural resources for sustainable development, as outlined in the Presidential Priorities in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Together, let us embark on this journey of collaboration and innovation, committed to safeguarding our environment for generations to come.”
